The Williams’ Effect Weekend
Every year, Forward Montana Foundation holds The Williams Effect weekend, named for Carol and Pat Williams and created to celebrate their years of public service.
During this annual event, we honor 25 young Montanans who are putting in the work in their communities to make this state a better, more equitable place for all. The weekend also includes the Montana Youth Organizing Summit, bringing together activists, organizers, dreamers, and doers from across the state.
Thank you to everyone who joined us during The Williams’ Effect 2021. The weekend started off with an award ceremony honoring 25 incredible people under 25 years of age. After the award ceremony, we celebrated with a block party and concert featuring Spy Trap, The Ugly Onion, and Starseed. Thank you for providing delicious food and festive tunes!
On Saturday morning, David Samollow with Earthtone Outside led a walking land acknowledgment at Peet’s Hill that grounded the team and gave meaningful recognition to the first stewards of the land. To read the full land acknowledgment written by David, click here.
During the Montana Youth Organizing Summit, 21 people were trained on how to register voters, and then we even took to the streets of Bozeman, registering a total of 19 voters in about an hour and a half!
The weekend ended with a happy hour at our new office in Downtown Bozeman, where we celebrated another incredible Williams’ Effect weekend!
We hope you can join us next year, but until then, we can’t wait to stay in touch regarding other events that Forward Montana is hosting, as well as update you on important happenings within our organization.
Sponsorships support the cost of the event, scholarships for young people to attend, and Forward Montana Foundation’s year-round leadership development efforts. Thank you so much to this year’s sponsors.
