#2020Census: Our Generation Counts
TL;DR: Make sure you get counted in the 2020 Census
2020 will be the first year that the US Census will be collected online. The Census will never ask for your bank account, social security, or credit card number and your personal information will not be shared outside of the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Census ensures that we have accurate resources for the programs Montanans depend on. In 2016, Montana received more than $2 billion in federal programming for schools, hospitals, infrastructure, and other services we depend on guided by data from the 2010 Census.
An undercount threatens federal funding for Montanans. For every Montanan — adult or child — not counted in the 2020 Census, we stand to lose $2,000 annually, resulting in a loss of $20,000 over the ten years the census applies.
Our democracy depends on an accurate Census count. Students should be filling out the Census where they live most of the year at their on- or off- campus housing!
